Arizona shooting: Christina-Taylor Green's parents reveal her pride at being born on 9/11

She only lived for nine short years but Christina-Taylor Green had a remarkably full life.

Bo on the day of the 9//1 attacks, she became the only girl in an all-boys Little League baseball team, was elected on to the student council at her school and had an active interest in politics.

And today, her parents spoke for the first time about their love for their daughter - and the passion that took her into harm's way - in an emotional TV interview.

It was a sunny Arizona Saturday moing, and Christina had been looking forward to meeting Gabrielle Giffords, a Congresswoman in the United States House of Representatives.

'She had a great moing, she got up early yesterday moing and was talking about the event, and how excited she was,' said Roxanna Green. 'She was very mature for her age.'

The granddaughter of former Phillies manager Dallas Green, she was taken to Giffords' informal town hall meeting by a neighbour who thought she would be interested in the event. So proud: Roxanna Green with Christina-Taylor, who featured in a book called Faces Of Hope about children bo on the day of the Twin Towers' fall

She died on the scene from a single bullet wound to her chest, one of six killed when alleged gunman Jared Loughner opened fire.

The other victims were Federal Judge John Roll, Gabe Zimmerman, a 30-year-old who was due to be married this year, plus septagenarians Dorwin Stoddard, 76, Dorthy Murray, 76, and Phyllis Scheck, 79.

But  Christina-Taylor was by far the youngest. She had been bo on the day the Twin Towers were attacked and had used her birthdate as a source of inspiration during her life. She was even featured in a book about babies bo on 9/11 called Faces Of Hope.

'She was very interested in politics since she was a little girl,' Mrs Green told ABC News. 'I think that being bo on 9/11 had a lot to do with that.'

'She always thought about how she was bo on 9/11, and she saw the positive in it,' Green said.Faces Of Hope book cover that featured Chrstina-Taylor and other babies bo on September 11, 2001

'She thought of it as a day of hope and change, a chance for the country to come together to be united.'

'As young as she was, Christina-Taylor talked about getting all the parties to come together so we could live in a better country,' Green said.

'She was going to Giffords' event to ask questions about how she could help and to lea more about politics in our country.

'She was proud of her country and wanted to know more about the political process,' she said. 'She was a beautiful girl inside and out.'

The little girl's father, John Green, called the tragedy 'disappointing.'

'She came into the world on 9/11 and then at nine years old she leaves it all on this terrible day,' said John Green. 'But we wouldn't take it back any of the nine years we had with her.'

'It was all worth it,' he said. 'But we still believe in this country.'

Third grade had already been off to a good start for Christina-Taylor, who was recently elected student council president at Mesa Verde Elementary School.

It was after hearing of that success that a kindly neighbour asked if she wanted to tag along to the Congress On Your Coer event that she thought the young girl would enjoy.

Mrs Green leaed of the tragedy when a friend's husband called and told her to go to the hospital where her daughter was being treated.

It was there she was told the awful news.

'She had a bullet hole to the chest. They tried to save her but she just couldn't make it. It was really really bad. I saw her right after that,’ she said.

Mrs Green revealed that her daughter had just celebrated her first family communion when she was killed.

'I can hold onto the wonderful nine, beautiful years that I had with my daughter. She was very bright and she was an amazing girl,' she said.

'I'm so proud of her. I'm still proud of her today. I know that she's going to do great things in heaven. She's my angel. '

It was a tragic twist to end her life story but at least the Greens have been left with pride to fill at least part of the vacuum in their lives.
