DETROIT - SkyFOX video shows a charred Yukon Denali bued in a vacant lot off Philip Street. Nearby, police found the body of 17-year-old Deaven Wilson, a high school student believed to have been behind-the-wheel.

Officers told FOX 2 the SUV was stolen in a carjacking and home invasion were gunfire was exchanged near Conner and Gratiot a short time earlier. According to sources, the teen called friends and said someone was chasing him.

"He was just a sweetheart," said Ashley Evans, one of the victim's friends. "We used to have fun all the time. He cared about people."

"He was just a good person," said Rashun Evans, another of the victim's friends.

Some of Wilson's closest friends came to see where the teen spent his final moments.

It's not clear what role he played in the earlier crime. Police believe at least one other person was involved.

They also believe Wilson may have been shot during the exchange of gunfire before he sped away.

Friends said Wilson was supposed to attend summer school and play football at Finney High School where the sign outside reads "be safe." Now, they're hoping the shooter will be caught.

"I just hope they find him and he (goes) to jail," Evans said. "This is a wake-up call for everybody. They just need to sit back … and chill. (There are) too many young people dying."

While loved ones mou, investigators are following leads in the case. Two people were taken in for questioning and later released.

Whoever shot and killed Wilson is still on the street. Anyone with information should call Detroit Police.
