Virginia State Trooper Killed in Traffic Crash
KING GEORGE, Va. - Virginia State Police are investigating a traffic crash in King George County that killed a state trooper and injured two others.
Authorities say the trooper was responding to a call for assistance shortly before 7 p.m. Friday when his patrol car collided with another car. The crash happened at the intersection of Route 3 and Madison Drive.
The impact of the crash forced the patrol car to run off the road and strike a traffic pole. The car split in half and the front end hit three cars in a nearby parking lot.
The trooper died on the scene and police are still in the process of notifying next of kin.
Police say the driver and passenger of the other car suffered minor injuries.
