Suspected gunman kills innocent driver in horrific crash during high-speed chase (VIDEO)
A suspected gunman shot and killed a woman and her daughter in Miami on Wednesday morning before fleeing police and crashing into an innocent driver on U.S. 27 in Broward County, cops said.

A high-speed chase in South Florida between police and a gunman suspected of shooting two women on Wednesday ended in a horrific highway crash that killed an innocent driver.

Broward County authorities said the gunman was discovered dead at the crash site on U.S. 27 after an hour-long standoff with dozens of deputies and SWAT teams, the Miami Herald reported.

Gunshots were heard inside the suspect's badly damaged Mercedes SUV shortly after the crash and early reports said he shot himself. The suspect was not identified.

The innocent driver, who was hit by the fleeing gunman, was also pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Her name was not released.

Cops say the mayhem began in south Miami sometime before 10 a.m. when the alleged gunman shot a woman and her daughter and then fled in the SUV.

The mother, 51, died at the scene, while her daughter, 28, was pronounced dead later at Kendall Regional Trauma Center, NBC Miami reported.

Helicopter footage showed the suspect driving at excessive speed and weaving in and out of traffic on U.S. 27, a north-south highway connecting Tallahassee to South Florida.

The female driver was pulling across the highway near Griffin Road on the weste edge of Broward County when the suspect T-boned her, sending both cars skidding off the road onto a grassy area.

The innocent driver was thrown from her car, The Herald reported.

Helicopter footage showed officers approaching the car with their guns drawn and then quickly retreating and taking cover after hearing shots from the Mercedes.

Jonathan Ortiz, who works nearby, told NBC Miami he saw the Mercedes fly by just before the crash.

"We just saw this car speed by, we said 'Oh my God, this is crazy.'" Ortiz said.

Details about the incident were still being made available on Wednesday afteoon.

Miami-Dade police said they suspected the shooting was domestic incident.
