Indianapolis elementary school principal Susan Jordan pushed several students out of the way, keeping them from being struck by the vehicle.
Authorities said Jordan, the principal of Amy Beverland Elementary School, was killed Tuesday and two 10-year-olds sustained serious injuries when the bus suddenly lurched forward.
The bus driver said she's not sure what caused the bus to accelerate, but she says she saw the principal push children out of the way.
The district has canceled classes today.
