Salisbury firefighter Tim Oliveria killed in accident at fire station
SALISBURY - Officials say a Salisbury firefighter was killed after a fire department vehicle he was working on at headquarters slipped from a jack and landed on him.
Salisbury Deputy Fire Chief Steven LeSage said, "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of Salisbury fire Lt. Tim Oliveria who passed away this afteoon." Lt. Oliveria was injured in an accident that occurred at the Lafayette Street Fire Headquarters Friday afteoon while working on a department vehicle.
Deputy LeSage said, "Tim was a much beloved 27-year member of the Salisbury Fire Department." He added, "Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife Pam and his extended family that truly includes members of the Salisbury Fire Department including Fire Chief Richard Souliotis."
Officials were still investigating how Oliveria, the station's mechanic, became pinned under the vehicle.
Oliveria is a 25-year veteran of the department.
