Rockville Man Roberto Cruz Gonzales Arrested in Attempted 2010 Rape
ASPEN HILL, Md. - A Rockville man has been arrested on charges that he tried to rape a woman last fall.
Montgomery County police say 19-year-old Roberto Cruz Gonzales accosted a woman who was walking home from work last October and forced her down an embankment.
Police say the woman managed to fight off Gonzales and ran away.
Police say they got an anonymous tip identifying Gonzales as the possible attacker, and an officer who stopped him near the area in March identified him as well.
Gonzales was arrested Thursday after DNA evidence taken from the scene matched a sample taken from him.
Police say the person who provided the tip is eligible for a Crime Solvers cash reward.
