'Road rage? Let the Wookie win': Star Wars-themed traffic warnings appear in 4 states
As excitement mounts nationwide for the nationwide premiere of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," officials in four states capitalized on the series' popularity to promote safe driving.
Drivers in Iowa, Utah, Arizona and Colorado spotted Star Wars-themed traffic messages from the state departments of transportation on Monday. The messages urged motorists against distracted and aggressive driving.
"Road rage? Let the Wookie win," read one sign.
"Be a rebel, not a clone. Put down the phone," waed another.

According to a blog post from the Iowa Department of Transportation, officials waded through a number of suggestions for the traffic signs.
"We couldn't settle on just one," wrote the Iowa DOT. "We're not going to do this regularly, but as you're driving today, watch for a variety of messages."

The signs only appeared for one day, although Arizona Department of Transportation employee Tom Herrmann told The Arizona Republic another message may appear for drivers on Wednesday.
“All of us had the same approach to it; we have a serious message to get out about stopping aggressive driving," he said. "If we can tap into popular culture with some humor, that's going to get people's attention."
