Police: Zachariah Walker, Suspect In Homicide Kills Self

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- Police in Altamonte Springs said a man sought in connection with a fatal shooting at an apartment complex took his life after being confronted by an officer.

Investigators said they were called to the parking lot of the Glades Apartments on Jamestown Boulevard just before 3:30 a.m. to investigate reports of a man being shot.

Police said two men got into an argument after a party at the complex and one of them shot the other in the chest. Police identified the victim, who was later pronounced dead, as Franklin Neff, 24.

Investigators said an officer responding to the scene saw a man matching the description of the shooter. When the officer approached him, the man tued the gun on himself.

Police said his name was Zachariah Walker and that he would have tued 30 next month.

"This investigation is ongoing, but it appears that the two deceased subjects were involved in an altercation at a party in an unknown apartment within The Glades. Their relationship or feud with each other is not known at this time," said Altamonte Springs police Officer Tim Hyer.

Jamestown Boulevard was closed for three hours while detectives and crime scene personnel processed the scene. It has since reopened.
