Phi Delta Theta fraternity at U. of Chicago involved in racist prank
University of Chicago's Phi Delta Theta chapter is quickly becoming a strong contender for the most hated frateity in America after being involved in a practical joke on a U.S. postal carrier that wasn't as practical as it was racist and homophobic. About a week after Memorial Day, Iran Becton hauled 79 packages to the frateity house, unaware that all 79 were addressed to "Reggin Toggaf," which is two slurs we'd rather not repeat, written backward. Only after delivering his last load did a frateity brother tell him the packages were a practical joke.
Upon investigation, the frateity claimed that the packages were from another frateity pranking their house and that Becton, who is black, was not the intended target. Because that makes it OK. — [Source]
Update : Eleanor Daugherty, assistant vice president for student life, said in a statement: "The University of Chicago considers this a grave and deplorable incident that offends our community's core values." The university is working with federal authorities in the ongoing investigation. [Source]
