A district judge in Catawissa, Pennsylvania, is tired of people wearing pajamas to court appearances.

Magisterial District Judge Craig Long is so tired of seeing pajama bottoms that he has a sign posted in his office.

The sign reads, "Pajamas are not appropriate attire for district court."

"We have a growing problem of people not dressing appropriately for court," Long told WNEP. "I just put it out there as a reminder of the code of conduct that should be followed when appearing in court."

Long said he had the sign idea for a while and posted it after he got supervisor approval.

He said the sign is meant for those who have to appear in court, not people in court to pay fines or pick up paperwork.

The sign, which the Catawissa Borough Police Department shared in a Facebook post Jan. on 26, was met with strong responses both praising and criticizing the sign.

"Just because they post a sign doesn't make it law," commenter Doug Ritter said. "You're lucky they showed up at all."

But most thought that it was shameful that the sign needed to be posted in the first place.

"It's a shame you have to post a sign to tell people what to not to wear and when," Denise Opie-Ervin said in a reply to the post.

The judge said he hopes people take the sign seriously and go by what it says. "It's not a law," he said. "It's not a rule or something we can enforce. It's just there as a reminder."
