Moment Euric Cain 'shot hero medical student Peter Gold in the stomach' on video
Chilling new surveillance video shows the moment a Tulane University medical student was shot after stopping a woman's apparent kidnapping in New Orleans.
The video obtained by WVUE shows what happened leading up to last Friday's shooting of Peter Gold, and also shows the people who rushed to the injured medical student's aid after hearing the gun being fired.
The cameras that took the shocking footage are owned by businessman Jada Sarsaur.
He explained to WVUE: 'I think he (the suspect) saw her on Magazine, the coer of Magazine and St. Mary, and I think he circled the block and then parked on the side of the building and then went and got her and brought her back to the car.
'While he's carrying her, he's trying to open the door [of his car].'

Cain allegedly ripped the purse from the woman's hands around the same time that the fourth-year medical student stopped his vehicle as he drove along Magazine Street to help the woman.
The suspect then exited his SUV, pointing his weapon at Gold and then shooting him in the stomach.
The footage then shows the gun jammed, and Cain can be seen taking off as Gold reaches for his phone before collapsing onto the ground.
Patrons of the Saint bar run to help Gold. The woman who the 25-year-old tried to save from being abducted can also be seen trying to crawl over to him.
Police and federal marshals apprehended Cain at a house late Monday moing.
The woman was treated for minor injuries and released. Meanwhile, Gold is in stable condition and improving at the hospital.
'The Gold family is very grateful to the doctors and other medical professionals at University Medical Center who are providing such excellent care for Peter,' Tulane spokesman Mike Strecker said in a statement.
'We again ask that everyone respect our family's need for privacy during this difficult time.'
The top cop in New Orleans has commended Gold who was committing an extremely 'selfless act' when he intervened after seeing the woman being dragged early Friday.
Ryan O'Halloran, a friend of Gold's told ABC News that it did not surprise him that Gold pulled his car over to help save the woman, calling him 'a great guy'.
O'Halloran added that Gold is 'a guy who generally always has your back.'
Gold's family told ABC News in statement that while they deeply appreciate everyone's conce and prayers as they face this 'crisis', they said their sole focus remains on his recovery.
'We ask that everyone respect our need for privacy while we join Peter as he begins to recover from the injuries he has sustained.'
Tulane President Michael Fitts wrote in an email: 'I ask that you keep Peter and his family in your thoughts and prayers.
'He is an outstanding student who represents the best of Tulane in every possible way.'
Gold, who also completed his undergraduate studies at Tulane, received the Sociology Department's 'Outstanding Student' award the year he graduated.
One of his professors, Michele Adams, said: 'Peter is really one of the nicest people you would ever meet, and he is an amazing student, I'm sure, even in med school.'
