Emily Hamlin left to die in gym bathroom
A male gym employee's fear of the consequences of entering the women's change room is being blamed in part for the 2012 death of 22-year-old Long Island, N.Y., woman, Emily Hamlin.
A wrongful death suit to be filed by her family describes how Hamlin collapsed inside a women-only restroom at the Planet Fitness gym at Bay Shore after a moing workout.
Stephanie Dick heard her hit the ground and alerted staff member Sean Higgins. According to Dick's affidavit, Higgins said that he was not allowed to go into the ladies' bathroom and that he was "scared and confused and didn't know what to do." Hamlin was pronounced dead by police about an hour after entering the bathroom. [Source]
