DNA Tests Confirm Body Found In Burned Vacant Is 5 Year-Old Mariha Smith
Detroit Police are confirming the body of a young girl found in a bued out home on Waverly Street is 5 year-old Mariha Smith.
The young girl went missing Sunday from a home not far from the vacant where her body was found.
The DPD Homocide unit said the family and the prosecutor's office have been notified.
Mariha went missing between 3 a.m. and noon Sunday frmo the home of her aunt, Quanita Smith, who lives on the 3800 block fo Burlingame on Detroit's west side.
According to stories from the family, it appears the kidnapper entered the home through a window screen and climbed over the couch where the girl's mother, Konesha Smith, was sleeping.
Mariah's family was desperately holding onto hope, despite the grim connections between Mariha's kidnapping and the body found in the bued house.
Detroit Police released surveillance video from a nearby gas station, which contains footage of a person of interest in the case.
