A police officer’s wife was caught stealing a toddler’s Christmas presents.

Dana Hager, 42, was captured on security cameras taking the USPS packages from her neighbour’s front doorstep, packing them into her car and driving away.

The homeowner, Megan Zawacki, was in the Florida house with her two-year-old daughter at the time of the theft.

She noticed a shadow pass the window, and ran to her bedroom with the child to check the security footage.

When she saw a thief making off with the young child’s presents, she posted the video to Facebook to try and catch the suspect.

It was seen tens of thousands of times, and she received a number of messages from people saying that the thief was Hager – people acquainted with her recognised her tattoos.

Hager was arrested on Monday and charged with unarmed burglary of an occupied dwelling and petit theft, the authorities said.

She then admitted stealing the presents.

‘The fact that Hager took the packages off of a neighbour’s front porch is shocking,’ Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told ABC News.

‘The fact that she is the wife of a law enforcement officer is even more shocking.’

Hager was already on probation from a previous offence – shoplifting at a Kohl’s department store in April.
