California woman Dawn Raines-Hewes arrested ‘for drowning her grandson, 4, in a bath’
A grandmother has been arrested after she allegedly drowned her grandson when she was supposed to be looking after him.
Dawn Diana Raines-Hewes, 51, was taken into custody yesterday moing in Fairfield, Califoia.
Police and fire crews went to a house in the city where they found the four-year-old boy unresponsive.
Police said in a statement: ‘All attempts to resuscitate the boy were unsuccessful and he died at a local trauma center.
‘The death was suspicious and Major Crimes Unit detectives initiated an investigation.’
‘At this time, the investigation has determined the boy was in the care and custody of his grandmother, Dawn Diana Raines-Hewes, 51 years, of Fairfield.
‘The baby was placed inside a bathtub and intentionally drowned by Raines-Hewes. There were two other grandchildren, a 1 year-old girl and 6 year-old girl, also under the care of Raines-Hewes. They were unharmed.’
