A lost toddler found wandering through a Texas apartment block dropped a pretty shocking one-liner on the police who found her:

‘I need a beer,’ she said.

Officers said the girl was ‘extremely dirty’, and her skin was covered with red bumps caused by bedbug bites.

The girl repeatedly told police ‘I’m hungry’.

‘This was a clear neglect on the mother’s part,’ Lubbock Police Lieutenant Ray Mendoza told KJTV.

‘More than anything, it was the conditions the child was living under and the fact that the mom was completely oblivious to where the child had been or where it was at the time.’

When officers tracked down the girl’s mother, Shauna Bennett, they found her flat to be filthy, with cockroaches covering the walls and mold-covered dishes in the sink.
