2 arrested for breaking into cars in Springfield
SPRINGFIELD - Two people were arrested for breaking into cars in Springfield, police said.
Ramon Rodriguez, 21, of Springfield, and an unidentified 15-year-old male were taken into custody.
Officers John Zollo and Jose Robles were on patrol in the area of 122 Chestnut St. near the parking garage, where they noticed a suspicious male hanging around the enclosed parking lot looking up and down the street like a "lookout."
As the officers approached, they observed the male who was standing near a bike talking to somebody inside the garage like he was waing the person about approaching police. The officers stopped to investigate and noticed another male emerge from the garage.
These officers began to question the pair, and as they got closer, the two thieves ran from the police officers. Both officers perused the suspects and caught them as they were throwing and trying to conceal stolen items.
Both were taken into custody and the officers went back to the garage and found two cars broken into.
Stolen and recovered from the two cars with smashed windows was a blue tooth ear piece, a DVD remote, a radar detector, head rests with DVD screen monitors inside them.
Rodriguez will be arraigned Tuesday in Springfield District Court. His accomplice will be arraigned in Juvenile Court.
