Timothy Buchanan Identified as Teen Shot and killed on Gwinnett basketball court
Police have identified Timothy Buchanan as the teen was shot and killed on a Gwinnett basketball court Sunday evening. Community members are shocked that something like this happened in their neighborhood.
Gwinnett County police identified the 17-year-old boy who was found dead from a gunshot on a basketball court over the weekend.
Investigators say they found the body of Timothy Buchanan of Lawrenceville, Sunday afternoon off Mariray Court on the subdivision's basketball court. Gwinnett County police are investigating his death as a homicide.
Investigators say the shooter fled the immediate area. For that reason, they don't believe there's an imminent threat to the public.
"Detectives do have several leads on this case, so they are following up on that now as we speak," Sergeant Jenniger Richter of the Gwinnett County Police Department.
No arrests have been made yet.
