Sheriff's deputies in Bibb County are investigating a fiery traffic accident that left a mother and her two children dead.

Deputies say around 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon a black Chevrolet SUV was going southbound on I-475 just past the Thomaston Road bridge when it went off the roadway and hit a tree

After hitting the tree, the SUV burst into flames.

Deputies said there were three people in the SUV and all three were pronounced dead by Deputy Coroner Luanne Stone. Authorities say that their bodies were burned so badly, they were not identifiable.

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones told reporters that he was able to identify the victims as 41-year-old Karen Gregory, 19-year-old Kyron Gregory and 10-year-old Yahvi Gregory.

Jones said the vehicle was so badly burnt that investigators had to use a VIN number to identify it. The car is registered in Jacksonville, Florida.
